Fresh Cut: The World of Landscape
What’s Happening in the World of Landscape
New Leaf Landscape Services cares about the
community, and we’re often involved in projects that
support non-profit organizations. Working with the
North Georgia Chapter of the Metro Atlanta
Landscape and Turf Association (MALTA), New Leaf
has donated services to clear and install trails at
Sonrise Camp, which serves youngsters with special
needs from across North Georgia.
“Our MALTA chapter has adopted Sonrise Camp as our
major community project this year,” said Steve Murray,
president of the North Georgia Chapter of MALTA and
owner of New Leaf. “The camp does such excellent
programs for youngsters and this is a fine way for our
members to give back to the community.”
Since last fall, MALTA members have donated time and
materials to clear the trail area that will be completed
on Friday. Additionally, throughout the rest of the year,
they will be working on specialized landscaping. They
will also identify plants, trees and shrubs so that the
youngsters who come to the camp can learn about
gardening and horticulture.
“We are so grateful to the MALTA members for sharing
their talents and time with us to make the camp even
more accessible for our young people with special
needs,” said Janice Gardner, executive director of
Sonrise Camp. “The children enjoy their time here so
much and having organizations like MALTA work with
us enhances the experience these youngsters have.”
The Gainesville Times recently featured a front-page
color photograph and story about the MALTA project.
