Letter from the Groundskeeper Dear Friends: Summer bloom season is in full swing, and with the relaxed watering restrictions your landscapes should be looking beautiful. Annuals installed in late spring are at their peak, perennials are displaying their varied shapes, colors and textures, and shrubs and trees provide a lush backdrop for the beauty of your yard and gardens. While you’re enjoying the warmer weather, it’s not too soon to begin thinking about fall. We’ve already begun making appointments with our clients for fall garden design so that we can order the plants you want in time for autumn installation. This way, we get the best plants from our growers and we can arrange your installation before our schedule becomes filled. Fall is also the best time to install or move trees and shrubs in your landscape. Here’s why: as the weather cools, trees and shrubs become dormant, meaning they need less water while they take their winter “rest.” As growth slows, it’s much less stressful to move these plants in the cooler weather, plus it gives them a chance to establish a stronger root system in the new location. Give us a call. We’re here to serve all your landscaping needs. Sincerely, Steve Murray |
