Letter from the GroundskeeperSummer, 2009Dear Friends: There’s an inherent value in planning ahead, especially in landscaping and gardening. Sometimes all you need is a nudge or reminder that working one season ahead is a good practice. To avoid the blahs of the colder weather, now is the time to think about ways to make your yard more attractive all year long. Hardscapes, such as walkways, winding stone walls, patios and fire pits, are excellent ways to increase the visual and functional appeal of your landscape. You may have a spot or two that can be improved with just a few changes. Use this time to make plans for cool-season work, building on the foundation of spring and summer focal points already in place, such as specimen shrubs or waves of perennial color. While your garden is in full bloom, we can take the time to inventory plants to move during the fall – which is the best time for transplanting. Call on Beth Garmon with our professional design staff to assist you with making the most of the assets you already have. We can begin planning now to be ready to go in the ideal planting time: fall and winter.Sincerely, Steve Murray |
